Swimming brings its own set of questions when you're tucking or wearing prostheses. Will your tape hold up in chlorine? Is there a bikini top that actually keeps a prosthesis in place while you swim laps or get knocked around by waves? We get these questions a lot, so we put together this guide covering the tucking gear, swimwear and accessories that are actually built to handle a day in the water.
New to tucking or wearing prostheses?
Quick and friendly version: tucking creates a smoother, flatter front silhouette, and breast prostheses add shape where you want it. If any of that is new territory, start with our tucking guide, and don't skip the sizing and fitting guide either. Getting the size right matters even more once water's involved: nobody wants to do a mid-swim adjustment.
Bottoms
Tucking underwear is one of the easiest ways to create a smoother silhouette while swimming. It offers firm support and can be worn underneath most swimsuits or bikini bottoms.
-
Tucking Bikini Brief: a low-cut swim bottom with a built-in compression layer that keeps everything smoothly in place, in and out of the water. Works for both semi-tuck and full-tuck.
-
Tucking Bikini Brief Ruffle: the same tucking support, with playful ruffles that cover the front while adding shape at the hips and accentuating the silhouette.
-
Tucking Thong: a built-in tucking layer with extra-strong smoothing, worn on its own or underneath a bikini bottom. Bare-cheek design so there's no visible panty line, and it doubles as everyday tucking underwear too.
Using tape
Prefer not to wear an extra layer of underwear? Tape can create a smooth appearance directly underneath your swimwear, no bulk, no bulges.
-
Shaping Tape: two rolls of skin-friendly, water-repellent tape (5m x 5cm each) that you cut and shape yourself to smooth the front. It's breathable enough for extended wear, though we'd stick to a maximum of 8 hours when you're tucking.
-
Shaping Tape XL: the same water-repellent, stretchy tape, just wider (5m x 10cm), so you cover more area per strip and get more mileage out of one roll.
-
Tucking Tape Kit: a ready-made option if you don't want to cut your own strips. It comes with a pre-cut piece of tape and two soft tubular gauzes that sit between the tape and your skin, so you're never applying adhesive directly to skin.
Not sure how to apply it? The tucking guide breaks the whole process down step by step.
Swimwear with breast prostheses
Our bikini tops and swimsuits include pockets that securely hold breast prostheses in place while you swim, so you can customise your shape and stay comfortable all day. Prostheses come in different shapes, sizes and skin tones, so you can choose whatever feels right for your body.
-
Swimsuit: a tucking swimsuit with a 4-way stretch, figure-shaping fit and separate pouches for breast prosthetics, plus thick shoulder straps that support larger prostheses.
-
Sculpting One Piece: a high neck and cheeky cut for a flattering silhouette, with a waist belt that accentuates your figure.
Bikini tops
Our Bikini Bra Tops combine support with a feminine design and can be worn with or without prostheses. They come in multiple colours, making it easy to mix and match with your favourite swimwear.
-
Bikini Bra Top: built-in pouches keep prostheses positioned while you move, with straps you can wear straight or crossed and a back closure that adjusts to two sizes.
-
Bikini Top Ruffle: a halter-neck top with ruffle detailing that shapes a natural chest curve on its own, or holds prostheses securely in its separate pouches if you want extra fullness.
-
Signature Bralette: a lace-and-mesh sporty style with adjustable straps and a hook-and-eye back closure, plus built-in pouches sized for prostheses from 150g to 600g.
Swim skirts
Want extra coverage? A swim skirt is a great addition to your swim outfit. It's high-waisted with an A-line cut that covers the hips and genital area while shaping a feminine silhouette, and it pairs easily with our Swimsuit or any bikini bottom, giving you a little more confidence in the water.
Accessories
-
Breast prostheses are made from 100% premium silicone in oval or triangle shapes, in four weights (150g to 600g, roughly A to D cup) and a few skin tones. They're suitable for swimming and light exercise, worn in a pouch inside your swimwear or bikini top, though it's worth handling them gently so they don't get damaged in transit.
-
Self-adhesive breast padding is water-resistant and can be worn right in your swimwear, in a top with pockets or directly on the skin. Check the breast pads manual for application tips.
Practical swimming tips
-
Try your swim outfit at home before heading out so you know everything feels comfortable.
-
If you're tucking for the first time in water, keep it looser than you might on land. Tape and tucking garments can shift with movement, and a snug but not too-tight fit is easier to adjust on the go.
-
Rinse your swimwear with fresh water after swimming in chlorine or salt water.
-
Pack a towel, cover-up or loose clothing if you'd like extra privacy before or after swimming.
-
Choose the products that make you feel most confident. There's no right or wrong way to enjoy the water.
The bottom line
However you choose to swim this summer, the goal stays the same: feeling comfortable and like yourself in the water. Go on, the water's fine.
