Ordering from Outside the EU? Here’s What to Know About Import Duties

UNTAG is based in the Netherlands, and when you order from us from outside the European Union (EU), your local customs office might charge you extra fees before your package can be delivered. These are called import duties or customs charges. We believe in being fully transparent about this, so here’s everything you need to know, explained clearly and with an overview per country.

What Are Import Duties and Thresholds?

  • Import duties are taxes or fees charged by your country’s customs agency when goods are brought in from abroad. These fees vary depending on your country and the type of product.

  • An exemption threshold means there’s a price limit under which you don’t need to pay import duties or taxes. Orders below that amount may be delivered free of extra charges.

  • A threshold amount is the specific value (like $75 or €150) under which no fees apply. If your order is above that threshold, import costs will usually be added when the parcel arrives.

Will You Have to Pay Duties?

Here’s a country-by-country summary of the information currently available. Always check with your local customs office for the latest rules, we’ve done our best to give you accurate info based on what’s currently known.

A Quick Recap

  • If you're ordering from outside the EU, import duties and taxes may apply.

  • These are set by your local authorities, not by UNTAG.

  • You will usually be contacted by your local postal or courier service if payment is required.

  • UNTAG is not responsible for these fees, but we are happy to help clarify what to expect.

💡 Example for U.S. customers
If you place an average UNTAG order of $75 USD (for example, a binder or bathing suit), you will now need to pay import duties plus courier fees under the new rules (after August 29, 2025).

  • Import duty on clothing (approx. 16%): about $12

  • FedEx processing/advancement fee: about $10–$15

  • Total extra cost: around $22–$27

👉 That means your $75 order will likely cost about $97–$102 delivered.

(This is just an example, the exact amount depends on the product, courier, and customs handling.)
