UNTAG is based in the Netherlands. So when you order from outside the European Union (EU), your local customs office might charge you extra fees before your package can be delivered. These are called import duties or customs charges. We want to be fully transparent about this, so here's everything you need to know, explained clearly, with an overview per country.
What are import duties and thresholds?
-
Import duties are taxes or fees your country's customs agency charges when goods come in from abroad. They depend on your country and the type of product.
-
An exemption threshold means there's a price limit below which you don't pay import duties or taxes. Orders under that amount may be delivered without extra charges.
-
The threshold amount is that specific value (like $75 or €150). If your order is above it, you'll usually pay import costs when the parcel arrives.
Will you have to pay duties?
Here's a summary per country, based on the info currently available. We've done our best to make it accurate, but always check with your local customs office for the latest rules.
🇳🇴 Norway
Import duties? Yes (unless VOEC applies)
Exemption threshold? Yes, for VOEC-registered shipments
Threshold amount: NOK 3,000
Above threshold: 0–10% import duty on clothing + 25% VAT
🇺🇸 United States
Import duties? Yes
Exemption threshold? No, scrapped as of August 29, 2025
Threshold amount: None (all imports now pay duties and taxes, whatever the value)
Above threshold: duties and taxes apply to all shipments. Rates depend on the product category and the country of origin, with extra tariffs on goods from China and Hong Kong. The U.S. has also introduced a reciprocal tariff policy, so duty rates can differ depending on how much another country charges on U.S. exports.
For UNTAG customers: we've updated our US shipping policy. We now charge a flat rate of $9.95 USD. Any import duties are calculated automatically at checkout, so you know exactly what you're paying upfront. Everything is covered, and you won't get any surprise tax or customs bills later on.

Quick recap
-
Ordering from outside the EU? Then import duties and taxes may apply.
-
These are set by your local authorities, not by UNTAG.
-
If you need to pay, your local postal or courier service will usually get in touch.
-
UNTAG isn't responsible for these fees, but we're always happy to help you figure out what to expect.
💡 Example for U.S. customers
Say you place an average UNTAG order of $75 USD (like a binder or a swimsuit). Under the new rules (after August 29, 2025), you'll now pay import duties plus courier fees.
-
Import duty on clothing (approx. 16%): about $12
-
FedEx processing/advancement fee: about $10–$15
-
Total extra cost: around $22–$27
👉 So your $75 order will probably cost about $97–$102 delivered.
(This is just an example. The exact amount depends on the product, the courier and how customs handles it.)
