Sustainable Production by UNTAG

Sustainable Production by UNTAG

At UNTAG, we believe that gender-affirming clothing should not only empower the people who wear it but also respect the world we live in. Sustainability has always been a central part of how we design, produce, and ship our products. This journey is ongoing, and we want to share with you what we’re already doing, and what’s next.

Mindful Materials

The fabrics we choose form the basis of every product. Most of our fabrics are sourced from Italy and Belgium, ensuring not only premium quality but also reduced transport distances within Europe. We aim to use materials that are both high-quality and long-lasting, ensuring that binders, underwear, and other items can be worn and washed many times without losing their shape. Some of our fabrics are made using recycled yarns, such as recycled polyamide, which reduce waste and cut down on the use of virgin materials.

Responsible Production

All our garments are proudly produced in Europe, the majority of which in Poland, in collaboration with trusted partners who understand the importance of ethical working conditions. We maintain close relationships with our production sites, so we can ensure fair labor practices, safe workplaces, and transparency in the process. Also, if available from the supplier, we try to use their dead-stock fabrics , enabling us to make limited edition products. We are also investigating ways to lower the footprint of dyeing and finishing processes by working with suppliers who focus on water reduction and safer chemicals.

Designed to Last

Fast fashion creates waste; we design to counter it. UNTAG garments are crafted with durability in mind, so customers can feel confident investing in pieces that will last. A well-designed binder or pair of tucking underwear doesn’t just affirm identity—it becomes a reliable, everyday companion. Conscious & Discreet Shipping

Packaging and shipping play a big role in sustainability. We use minimal, recyclable packaging and continue to research how to further reduce our carbon footprint in distribution. And, of course, your order will always arrive in discreet packaging, so you can feel comfortable and secure when receiving your items.

Looking Ahead

Sustainability is not a one-time achievement—it’s a path. In the coming years, we aim to:

  • Introduce more recycled and certified fabrics

  • Share product-specific footprint information (like water and energy use)

  • Explore third-party certifications such as Fair Wear Foundation or B-Corp

  • Keep listening to our community for ideas and feedback

Sustainability in Our Office

Our commitment to sustainability goes beyond production. It is also part of our daily office life. We make conscious choices that reduce waste and energy use, while supporting a healthier way of working:

  • We eat vegetarian lunches together and often share food as a team

  • We reduce waste and avoid single-use items by using regular cutlery, cups, and plates, which we wash by hand every day

  • We rarely use air conditioning, unless it is too hot to function

  • Most of our team commutes by bike

  • We print as little as possible, choosing digital-first work with online tools for meetings, brainstorming, and planning

  • We recycle samples through donations

  • We recycle fabrics as much as possible

  • Items that do not sell are given a second life through our Discount Delight Boxes

  • We save energy by switching off lights, computers, and machines when not in use and by using LED lighting throughout the office

  • We bring in green touches like office plants that improve air quality and create a healthier workspace

  • We follow a repair culture, fixing what we can instead of throwing items away

These small, everyday actions add up to make a real difference, showing that sustainability is about both big and small choices.

Why It Matters

For us, sustainability is more than a trend. It’s about aligning our values: care for the environment, care for people, and care for ourselves. By being transparent about our process, we hope to inspire our customers to make choices that feel good in every way.
